The Homeless Teen

Hi, I am the homeless teen. You probably don’t relate to me or don’t understand me, but I am somebody. A somebody that has been looked down upon, a somebody that maybe doesn’t measure up to people’s standards, a somebody that has been through the fire, a somebody that doesn’t have a home, but I am a somebody.

I need love/nurturing/comfort/hope/help/chastening/hugs/Jesus/
God/salvation/teaching. Did I mention love?

I am
poor/needy/broken-hearted/unloved/unloveable/tall/small/large/lean/

too something it seems…

When I get in trouble, I need discipline. When I am lonely, I need a friend. When I am sick, I need a doctor. When my friends let me down, I need a dad to take me fishing. When I feel like I don’t fit in, I need understanding. When my clothes are worn out, I need a mom to take me shopping-even at Goodwill. When life gets too tough, I need a grandpa or grandma-they always understand. I need a loving family. Above all, I need God, but I have been told so many things about God, how do I separate truth from lies? Will you help me know God? Do you care? Are you out there? Anybody?

Baptism!

Left to right: Kimmi, Kendall, and James!

Well last Sunday night Bro. Charles had the extreme priviledge to baptize 2 from On The Edge youth group and one from our Special Adult class! I am so proud of all three! While baptism is important, it is simply the outward expression of what Jesus has already done for us!! He died and rose again for us, because of us, because of me, because of my sin. The moment that I turned to Him, He reached down and lifted me out of a destination for a fiery hell. Please pray for the brand new Christians and pray for me as I continue to just be overjoyed in the Lord!!!

Come to church tonight!

Hey everyone,
A Claremore High School student lost her life yesterday suddenly. Shelby King collapsed in class and later passed away at Claremore Regional Hospital. While she wasn't a member at New Life, this tragedy hits too close to home. I cannot and will not try to explain why a 17 year old child suddenly dies but I do know that we serve a God that is kind, caring, compassionate, and merciful and He will help get everyone through this heavy and difficult time. We have to be ready for whatever happens and that includes being ready to pass from this temporary life to an eternal life either filled with our Lord Jesus, or one without God. I want every student that has ever been at New Life to come to church tonight. It's that important! It's that urgent!

After Camp

We got back from camp Fri. I had so much fun. Not only was there lots of fun stuff to do but we had church 4 times a day and our preachers tought us a lot.
Joey had a lot of fun and went up a big swing. It pulled you up 30ft in the air and let you go and you went back and forth. He touched a lot of lives while we were up there. Everyone fell in love with him and was very proud of him for going on the swing.
I had fun and got to met some new people.
The band that played the worship songs was amazing and I loved it.

Camp was so much fun and I had a blast. Im gonna go next year!!!

Camp pic

When I get a little more time, I will post a full account, but for now, two words come to mind, upside down. That's what God did in our lives. He turned them upside down so that all the baggage & junk that we carry on our shoulders fell off and God was then left with just us. I am so proud of all the kids that words just aren't enough....

Unspeakable gift...

1 Corinthians 9:15....
Paul said thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift. The word unspeakable is really something. I think of the words unimaginable, unthinkable, amazing, awesome, way cool, sweet, and many others that I can use to describe how God is crazy in love with low down rotten sinners like us. You might be thinking "I'm not a sinner" ....well, my friend, you are wrong. The Bible says that we all are sinners and God still loves us no matter what we have done, where we have been, or how we have lived. He just wants us to turn to Him and repent.

This week God has shown me things that I already knew---but sometimes "stuff" clouds our spiritual eyes and doesn't allow us to realize the fact that we are all the same......no matter what. It's when we get stripped of all the worldly junk at a youth camp, where we are so worn out that all we have left is just us, no strength to keep up our walls, egos, attitudes, etc. is when God comes in and works in our hearts and lives. Google "Eliot's story" and watch that video. Prepare for tears--this is the story of our camp evangelist's mentor and his walk through the fire with a child that had no chance according to doctors at life but God had different plans....

As I watched the kids yesterday on the ropes course I realized something---we all need to look through God's eyes at people... We need to have the courage of a Joey Riggs that got harnessed up with the encouragement of both of our youth groups and got pulled up 30 feet on a giant swing and with a snap came swinging down screaming all the way....but he did it!! God gave him the courage to face uncertainty and one of his biggest fears!! What is your biggest fear? Do like Joey and give it to God!!

Having fun at Freedom Camp!!!

Hey we're all having a blast at camp!! Out camp evangelist Jason Curry is great at communicating the Gospel and sharing Biblical Truths with us! The worship with Josh Hilliker is extraordinary!!
After getting lost, and the ol' bus breaking down, we finally arrived about 6:00 last night.

I just realized something......the kids were all away from TV, cell phones, computers, video games, and all other worldly influences and guess what?????THEY ARE DOING GREAT!! The Lord has truly blessed me with being youth pastor to these awesome kids--it's truly humbling to see the Lord working in these kids' lives!!!

More later including pics!!
